The Legend of Korra Graphic Novel Finally has a Release Date!

By  |

It’s finally happening! The Legend of Korra graphic novel has a title and a (somewhat) release date!

The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars will be released in June 2017 by Dark Horse Comics following in the footsteps of the many Avatar: The Last Airbender comics. It picks up after girlfriends Korra and Asami return from the Spirit World to find Republic City in chaos. The spirit portal Korra opened in the show’s finale is clashing with people in the city.

This comic has been a long time coming. It was announced last year at Comic Con, and they said later that Brittney Williams would be the artist. They even released early images of her Korra. Now it looks like Williams isn’t the choice anymore. EW is reporting that Irene Koh will be the new artist for the title. They go onto say:

The Legend of Korra famously ended with a romantic pairing between its two female leads. Turf Wars is set to pick up right where the series left off, as Korra and Asami return from the spirit world to find Republic City in disarray. The new spirit portal has caused no end of chaos, as a pompous developer plans to turn it into an amusement park and the triads reunite just in time to cause trouble for the city’s many evacuees.

“Korra has to figure out how to find a new balance in the city with all this stuff that’s gone on,” DiMartino recently told EW. “It’s gonna take place right after the finale, so it’s focusing on Korra and Asami’s relationship as a new threat emerges. It’s kind of like the aftermath dealing with the new portal in the city, and all the evacuees coming back to find their homes wiped out cause of the portal.”

With New York Comic Con coming this weekend, let’s hope we get to see more artwork from this book!

Hope set out into the world to be a Pokemon Coordinator. When she realized that Pokemon were not real, she pursued her other passion: writing. Hope was raised in fandoms and saw how they can help save the world from her work with The Harry Potter Alliance. Now, she works to bring that love into writing one article at a time. She's also a diehard Atlanta Braves fan, so don't diss her team.
