The Rogue One Trailer has dropped! Damn, girl, it looks great!

This morning on Good Morning America, we got the first teaser trailer for Rogue One, the new Star Wars anthology film out in December! It follows the story of resistance fighters trying to steal the plans to the Death Star. Jyn Erso, a female rebel, is assigned to the mission by Mon Mothma.

I can’t believe I’m alive to see a time where we have two female lead Star Wars movies in the course of a year. This new generation of ladies is so lucky! They have Rey from The Force Awakens, Hera and Sabine from Star Wars: Rebels, and now Jyn in Rogue One. I grew up unable to connect to Padme or Leia. It wasn’t until Ahsoka Tano in Clone Wars that I saw myself in a female character. Now, this new generation of girls have a slew of women to look up to.

What a glorious time it is!

My only real complaint is I wish there were more aliens. If Clone Wars and Rebels have taught us anything, there are thousands of species willing to fight and stand up to oppression. The humans can’t be the only ones saving the day in the live action movies. I want to see more Twi’lek fighter pilots like Hera or have L’ulo the Duros pilot make an appearance. I know it would be difficult in the live action movies to do the makeup, but I think it would be a great metaphor of all the various species and races working together.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is out on December 16, 2016. It stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and Riz Ahmed. Check out the trailer below.

Hope set out into the world to be a Pokemon Coordinator. When she realized that Pokemon were not real, she pursued her other passion: writing. Hope was raised in fandoms and saw how they can help save the world from her work with The Harry Potter Alliance. Now, she works to bring that love into writing one article at a time. She's also a diehard Atlanta Braves fan, so don't diss her team.
