Tina Fey and Ronda Rousey Send Rich Housewives to Boot Camp in "Do Nothing Bitches"

Tina Fey and Ronda Rousey are teaming up for the movie Do Nothing Bitches. Paula Pell, longtime Saturday Night Live contributor and screenwriter of the Fey/Poehler movie Sisters, will write the movie. Fey will produce. It will follow a group of spoiled rich women at a camp where they meet the harsh reality of instructor Rousey. I think of this as Real Housewives of Atlanta Go to Boot Camp.

Rousey is a MMA fighter who gained massive popularity over the last five years. Rousey gave a speech last year featuring the phrase “do nothing bitch” that rankled some. She said:

I have this one term for the kind of woman that my mother raised me to not be. And I call it a do-nothing bitch. A kind of chick that just tries to be pretty and be taken care of by somebody else. That’s why I think it’s hilarious when people say my body looks masculine or something like that. Listen, just because my body was developed for a purpose other than f—ing millionaires, doesn’t mean it’s masculine. I think it’s femininely badass as f— because there’s not a single muscle in my body that isn’t for a purpose. Because I’m not a do-nothing bitch.

Taken in context, the speech reveals Rousey was hitting back at critics that wanted her to be a figher who looks like a supermodel. Rousey also rejects the idea of sitting back and letting someone else take care of her. In addition to Fey and Pell, the speech resonated with other powerful women. At a concert last September, Beyonce blasted Rousey’s speech in her introduction to her song “Diva.”

Rousey lost her last fight and may not fight again until June. She is also slated to star in an update of the Patrick Swayze movie Roadhouse, which we wrote about here.
