Kristen Chenoweth Heads to Equestria as Broadway Vet Voices My Little Pony Movie

Lionsgate and Hasbro are teaming up for a movie based on the popular My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and what’s more, Kristen Chenoweth is slated to voice a new character.

“Meghan McCarthy and the My Little Pony cast are a very talented and cohesive team whom we’re happy to be working with and we’re excited about the addition of the very talented Kristin Chenoweth, as we explore new aspects of these characters and new story opportunities for the franchise,” Lionsgate co-president Erik Feig said in a statement.

It’s not known what character she’ll play but the information for the film says it’s a “new character” and that the ponies will face a dark force. The movie will come out 2017 and features the voices of the Mane 6 from the show. As a longtime pony fan, I think it would be great for them to reach into the MLP canon and have a villain from the original series. Perhaps Somnabula, who drains the unicorn magic with her haunting melodies, or Catrina from the first special. But based on the success of the show, it should be good and probably way better than the other toy-turned-movie attempts Hasbro did.
