In Goosebumps Official Trailer, Your Childhood Comes Out to Play
Goosebumps. Remember Goosebumps?! If you’re under the age of 40, you probably remember reading Goosebumps. I was a big fan as a kid, and tore through the books. I even played the Horrorland PC game. When I was a bookseller, I remember that kids were dismayed they weren’t in print any longer, and boy did they sell when they were re-released, because the kids could stop borrowing them from the library over and over.
Goosebumps has been adapted into various movies and television shows, but now Sony and Scholastic have brought it to the big screen for the first time. Hope Davis (currently creeping me out on Wayward Pines), Odeya Rush, Dylan Minnette play new neighbors, but there’s something creepy about Hannah’s father, played by Jack Black. It turns out he’s R.L. Stine, the author of Goosebumps, and now his creatures, haunts and ghoulies are on the loose.
This is total childhood nostalgia for me, and I love it. Let’s hope it’s a big more scary like the shows and direct-to-video adaptations. Except Slappy, that guy can stay away.
sound off: WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Watch the trailer and let me know your favorite Goosebumps books. Mine has to be Piano Lessons Can be Murder! Creepy like the Dr. Seuss movie, The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T.
Goosebumps arrives in theaters October 16.
