Disney Parks to Feel the Force: Star Wars Lands Coming
I’ve been awaiting news of Disney Parks updates, especially to find out what’s happening with Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Well, it’s finally here, because Disney has announced the Star Wars Disney Park updates.
A 14 acre land will come to Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, but also, Star Wars land will come to Disneyland.
Disney’s CEO Bob Iger says it’s the largest expansion in Disney history.
“It will be the first time that our guests will truly be emerged in the world that is Star Wars,” Iger said. “These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new “Star Wars” planet, including an epic “Star Wars” adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”
Disney is all about the experience, and they have a great ability to make you feel as if you’re in the world they’ve created, so Star Wars Land should be no different.
There will be two signature attractions, and they couldn’t be better for Star Wars fans. One, you can take the controls of the Millenium Falcon, and the other is a Star Wars “adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle.” It’s going to be a fully-immersive experience where guests can interact with characters of the universe, visit a trading port, and see a “never-before-seen planet.”
Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ current Star Wars attraction, Star Tours, has been operating since 1987 in a section known as “Echo Lake.” No news has been reported of how that area will be transformed, and what, if any attractions, will be affected.
StarWars.com has the following concept art images to get you excited.
More news should arrive from the Disney Parks Panel at D23, which is scheduled at 4:00 PM today.
